More updates on the CD commission.

Eeni, meeni, miini, moh.

Argh.

Commission for the CD cover, alterations to the pose.  This is why you stick with thumbnails for the first few rounds and not waste your own time.  Commissioner wanted it closer to some of my other paintings like the Wishing Well, Safest Place, Where We Go, etc.

Beginnings of a commission.

CD cover to be based off of The Magician from the Rider-Waite deck.  I, myself, don’t use tarot cards, but I enjoy them for the stories that they provide.  While looking through the rest of this deck online, I skimmed a few posts on tumblr from readings, and how each person comes to each layout with their own spin.  

It’s how people come to my artwork as well.  I have my little blip of a story, they add another line to it after they view it, and the next person I tell them about how so and so saw this and that, and THAT person goes “Neat, and I saw THIS in it…” and along it goes.

But yea, this is how I start my drawings.  Doodle that are between 2-4 inches in size, blocking in shapes.  Lets see where this one goes from here on out, eh?

In the Late Afternoon…
10x22in, watercolor on arches watercolor paper, pencil & pen for lines.
Added the sketches and an older close up of the crow on the rock.
This is the color the grass gets in the summer time around here, when the sun is starting to drift its way back down to the horizon.

Can’t decide which pose I like better… hm.

All done!  Just waiting on it to hit bone dry status to scan it in.  Now all I need is a title..

Didn’t get very far yesterday or today.  Starting to work on the upper parts now.  At the moment it’s feeling too… neon.  Started mucking in some neutrals before I feel like I’m at a sweet sixteen party in 1996.

Birthday card with a tree on it showed up from mom yesterday, it’s hanging out with me on the table while I work :)

Dug in dirt all morning, back to work I go!  

Roughs from the other day for a couple of paintings in the future… Second one is acrylic on 16x20 board, work in progress, based off of the lower right image in the sketches.  There’ll be stars.

Got a few ideas for underwater stuff, I haven’t forgotten, but some other things have popped up first that I needed to tackle right away :)
