The Dark Queen 2003, Mask Collector 2012
The first is one of my first attempts at using watercolor, and they both had the same use of white acrylic to build the body. It was an almost unconscious bouncing off of the original to get to the second, though I do draw the single female in a flowing dress often.
I was at the Comicon the other week when I realized it’d been pretty much ten years between the two.
Forever, The Stars
10x30 acrylic on canvas
5x15in & 10x30in Prints Available
Went back to painting this piece. No idea when she’ll be finished.
Listening to a lot of Fever Ray…
The Om - newest is 2.5x3.5 acrylic and pencil on paper
The others are from college years, back in 2002 (snap shots from where they were hanging on the wall for my senior show). Silent things. Unknown when or where they would show up. Usually armless, sometimes faceless, with crowns.
The Sultan’s Gift
Three more sketches. Definitely going to work with each of them.
Time, Moon Light, and a yet unnamed deer chilling out in the woods with a friend.
And the two side panels for the Universe…
Maybe it’ll be done this weekend? hah.
The Universe Speaks, We Listen.
Not finished yet. Have two more panels to sit on either side of her.
Pencil on watercolor paper, 11x15in
About three hours in. I realized she was missing a pair of hands so they’ll be added in. Been watching the United States of Tara, seemed appropriate. ;)
Pencil on 11x15in watercolor paper.
9x11in, acrylic on paper
Deeper Than Before
She appeared again. From time to time this one rises from what ever pile of leaves are gathering at the base of an old, venerable oak. Or out of the corner of that shadow, just over the hill.
Someone will find her, to hold conversation with her about the way of things. Forest things. Dream things. Words might be spoken, or gazes only met, but until that someone arrives, she is ever patient.
I’ve drawn this one a few times, but she is always different than the last. Possible drawing, or a painting, we’ll see when I get there.
